Warranty Information.
How our warranty works and what to do if you need to send something back. We stand behind what we build. If something we made isn’t right, we want to fix it — and here’s exactly how that process runs.
This is a customer-friendly summary of our full Limited Warranty & RMA Process document. The full document is what legally governs any warranty claim. If anything on this page and the full document conflict, the full document controls. Read the full Limited Warranty & RMA Process →

What’s Covered — And For How Long
We cover defects in materials and workmanship under normal civilian use. Coverage runs from the date of your original retail purchase, and the length depends on what you bought:
- Lifetime: complete firearms, upper receivers, lower receivers, and rails (things like SOTM4 carbines and rifles, complete uppers, billet lowers, monolithic rails).
- 2 years: components and accessories that aren’t wear items — triggers, bolt carrier groups (not counting wear parts inside), gas blocks, buffer systems, muzzle devices, handguards.
- 1 year: wear items — parts that naturally get used up in normal shooting: springs, pins, barrels, gas tubes, extractors, ejectors, detents, magazines, and finishes.
Cosmetic wear from normal use — holster wear, carry marks, finish dulling — isn’t a defect and isn’t covered.
Who warrants what
Many of our firearms are built around components from other makers — a Desert Tech Quattro-15 lower, an HM Defense Monobloc® barrel in an LMT® upper, a SOLGW barrel with a RIFLESPEED gas system, or LaRue, Geissele and Magpul parts. Here is how coverage works when that is the case.
- The complete firearm is ours. A firearm we manufacture is covered by the Second of Ten warranty as a complete firearm, whatever components went into it. If something goes wrong, come to us first.
- Each maker still stands behind its own part. A component maker’s warranty covers that maker’s part, on that maker’s terms — Desert Tech’s warranty, for example, applies only to the Quattro-15 lower. It sits alongside ours rather than replacing it, and we will help you use it where it applies.
- Custom Shop work on your own parts. When we work on a part you already own — a barrel conversion, a pin and weld, threading and the like — we warrant our work and the fit. Any warranty on the part itself is up to its maker, especially once it has been modified.
Who’s Covered
The warranty is for the original retail purchaser only — the person or business that bought the product directly from us or from an authorized Second of Ten dealer. It doesn’t transfer.
If you sell, gift, or trade the product, the warranty ends for the new owner. If you bought the product used, through a private sale, at a gun show from an unaffiliated seller, or on a secondary marketplace, it’s not covered under this warranty.
Commercial use is also excluded — range rentals, training-academy fleets, armorer-school inventories, and anything else that generates revenue from someone other than the owner using the product.
↑ Back to contentsWhat’s Not Covered
The warranty doesn’t cover damage, defects, or malfunctions caused by any of these:
- Normal wear and tear (and wear items that outlast their coverage period).
- Poor maintenance — not cleaning, not lubricating, or ignoring the schedule in our manual.
- Misuse or abuse, including using the product while impaired, criminal misuse, or use outside its designed operating envelope.
- Accidents, drops, fires, floods, or exposure to extreme environments beyond published specs.
- Modification, gunsmithing, or repair by anyone other than us or a Second of Ten–authorized service center.
- Installing non-approved aftermarket parts (barrel re-contouring, unauthorized refinishing, and similar).
- Removed or altered serial numbers. This voids the warranty entirely — and may also be a federal crime.
- Reloaded, remanufactured, handloaded, steel-cased, or otherwise non–SAAMI/CIP-spec ammunition — including ammunition outside the chambering stamped on the firearm. Damage from squib loads, double charges, barrel obstructions, out-of-battery discharges, and overpressure events is on you.
- Corrosion, rust, or finish wear from environmental exposure.
- Anything used in a commercial setting (see Section 2).
Optics, suppressors, sights, slings, lights, lasers, and other third-party parts we may integrate are covered by the maker’s warranty, not ours. We’ll try to help you route a claim to the right manufacturer as a courtesy, but the warranty itself is between you and them.
We decide, in our reasonable judgment, whether damage falls inside the warranty or outside it. If we determine that a claim is user error rather than a defect, we’ll tell you why, and we can offer to fix the product at your cost — usually the price of parts plus shipping, quoted before we do anything.
↑ Back to contentsWhat We’ll Do
If your claim is covered, we have three options — and we get to choose which one:
Repair
Using new or refurbished parts of equal or better spec.
Replace
With a product of equal or greater value. The original one becomes ours.
Refund
The original purchase price.
Repairs and replacements don’t extend the original warranty period. Whichever we choose is your sole remedy — that’s the deal.
You pay for shipping and insurance to us. We pay to ship the repaired or replacement product back to you.
How to Start a Claim
Every warranty claim starts with an RMA — a Return Merchandise Authorization number — from us. Don’t ship anything before you have one. Unauthorized shipments will be refused at the dock and returned at your expense, with no service performed.
Contact us
Email support@secondoften.com or call 772-243-7921. Have your order number, the product’s serial number (if it has one), and a description of the issue ready. Photos or a short video help.
We evaluate
We may ask follow-up questions or suggest a quick fix you can try first. If the issue needs the product sent in, we’ll issue you an RMA number.
Prep the product
Clean it. Remove all accessories (optics, sights, slings, suppressors, lights, and anything else that isn’t ours) unless we specifically ask you to leave something on. If it’s a firearm, unload it completely, open the action, remove the magazine, and visually confirm it’s clear. No ammunition anywhere in the box.
Package it
Put the completed RMA form inside the box with the product. Write the RMA number clearly on the outside of the shipping container. Use a rigid case where possible; wrap everything to survive rough handling.
Ship it
Firearms must ship through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) — federal law doesn’t let you ship them yourself. Non-regulated components can ship directly. Insure the package. We’re not responsible for damage or loss in transit to us.
We work the claim
We’ll inspect, diagnose, and either repair, replace, or refund. Typical turnaround is 2–4 weeks from when we receive the product, depending on parts availability and workload. We’ll keep you updated.
If It Turns Out Not to Be a Warranty Issue
Sometimes we open a return and find the problem isn’t a manufacturing defect — for example, damage from reloaded ammo, or wear that’s outside its coverage period, or something that was modified after purchase. When that happens:
- We’ll tell you what we found and why it’s not covered.
- If it can be fixed, we’ll quote you a repair cost — parts, labor if any, and return shipping.
- You can approve the repair, ask us to ship the product back as-is (you pay return shipping), or ask us to dispose of it.
We won’t do any billable work without your written approval first.
Ammunition Claims
Defective, reloaded, or improper ammunition — and damage caused by it — isn’t our responsibility, and we can’t replace ammunition.
If you think ammunition damaged our product, save the fired case, the box, and the lot number, and take it up with the ammunition manufacturer. We’ll cooperate with a factory investigation if the manufacturer opens one.
↑ Back to contentsWarranty Doesn’t Change Our Terms of Sale
This warranty runs alongside our Terms and Conditions of Sale. If the two documents ever conflict, this warranty controls on warranty coverage, and the Terms and Conditions of Sale control on everything else — order acceptance, payment, FFL transfer, returns of unopened non-warranty items, dispute resolution, and so on.
Buying is governed by a different document. Read the Terms and Conditions of Sale →
This Is the Whole Warranty
This limited warranty is the only warranty we make. We disclaim all other warranties — express, implied, or otherwise — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent the law lets us disclaim them. If a state law says an implied warranty exists no matter what, we limit it to the length of the express warranty above, or the shortest period the law allows.
Some states don’t let sellers limit implied warranties or exclude incidental or consequential damages, so parts of these limits may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.
What We’re Not Liable For
Except where the law says otherwise, we’re not liable for personal injury, property damage, or any indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind — including lost profits, lost revenue, loss of use, loss of data, or business interruption — arising out of use of the product or inability to use it. That’s true regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or anything else), and even if we knew the damages were possible.
Nothing here excludes liability we can’t legally exclude, like liability for personal injury or death caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
↑ Back to contentsNo Verbal Modifications
No employee, dealer, agent, or representative of Second of Ten can change this warranty verbally, extend its coverage, or make promises beyond what’s written here. Anything you rely on has to be in writing from us.
That protects you as much as it protects us — it means the deal is what the deal says.

Which document controls
This guide is a summary written for readability. The Limited Warranty & RMA Process is the operative document, and it controls wherever the two differ.
Start with an RMA
Never ship a product to us without an RMA number. Unauthorized shipments are refused at the dock and returned at your expense with no service performed.
Third-party parts
Optics, suppressors, lights and other components we integrate carry their own maker’s warranty. We’ll help route the claim, but it sits between you and them.
